The role of the academic adviser is to inform and guide students toward appropriate decisions in the selection of courses to help them achieve academic and career goals. Advising is a team effort involving students, advisers, and administrators. The College of Human Ecology offers an adviser for all undergraduate intended and declared majors.
The adviser informs students in such areas as degree requirements, course registration, change of major, schedule changes, academic probation, grade point average calculation, placement testing, procedures for withdrawal, transfer credit, and appeal policies.
The adviser works closely with the Registrar's Office, Admissions Office, Financial Aid Office, Counseling and Student Development Office, Student Health Services, Career Development Center, Distance Education Coordinator, and Cashier's Office to help students find the resources they need to successfully complete their education.
