Admissions

Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice (BSCJ)

Admission to the undergraduate criminal justice program begins with admission to East Carolina University. Applications for admission can be obtained from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, in the Whichard Building, or by calling 252-328-6133.

For admission to the criminal justice program, students must have completed 32 semester hours (s.h.) of course work, JUST 1000 with at least a grade of C, and have an overall GPA of 2.5 or above.

Transfer students are urged to contact the chair of the criminal justice program regarding admission.

All applications for admission to the criminal justice program must be completed and returned to the undergraduate office by October 15 for fall semester application and by February 15 for spring semester application. The application remains active for one semester only.

 
Master of Science in Criminal Justice (MSCJ)

Candidates seeking admission into the graduate program must fulfill the general requirements of the Graduate School. These criteria include:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited academic institution
  • A minimum overall undergraduate grade point average or 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • Satisfactory entrance examination scores are required on the GRE or MAT. (TOEFL may be required)

Applicants are required to submit a completed Graduate School Application Package, as well as a detailed resume (curriculum vitae), statement of purpose, transcripts from all previously attended colleges and universities, and three letters of reference to the East Carolina University Graduate School.

Admissions are reviewed after the dated indicated below:

Enrollment is limited and admissions will be competitive. Multiple selection criteria will be used, including GPA, entrance examination scores, prior academic preparation, statement of purpose, quality of references and prior work or volunteer experiences.
