Provides education relative to use of ICD-9-CM, CPT-4 and HCPCS coding. Disseminates information to physicians and staff relative to coverage guidelines and coding updates. Assists in the investigation of new services in relation to coding, payer coverage and billing implementation. Monitors departmental denial trends relative to coding, documentation and general billing. Subsequently assists in the implementation of billing enhancements to improve and/or prevent future denials. Performs ad hoc billing/documentation audits specifically to evaluate the SOM's billing accuracy.
