AgTeen Project Seeks NC Farm Families with Youth for Safety Study

The NC Agromedicine in collaboration with the University of Georgia are leading a farm safety education research project called AgTeen. The study will help determine strategies for adult to help keep youth safe on a farm.

NC Agromedicine Institute hosts Agritourism health and Safety Workshop 

The NC Agromedicine Institute and the Lazy O farm will co-host a Child Health and Safety in Agritourism open-house and workshop September 1, 2010. The workshop will focus on educational and practical solutions for implementing guidelines for children form the Nation Children's Center for Rural and Agricultural Health and Safety.

Tobacco Trust Fund Grant Press Release

The NC Agromedicine Institute was chosen as the recipient of a grant from the North Carolina Tobacco Trust Fund Commission in the amount of $184, 542 to further its research on its Risk Mitigation Measures project.

NC Agromedicine Institute hosts Annual NIFS Conference

The NC Agromedicine Institute co-hosts the annual conference for the National Institute for Farm Safety (NIFS) June 27-July 1, 2010. Collaborating with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, the NC Farm Bureau and Iowa's Center for Agricultural Safety and Health, the conference will offer professional development workshops, safety discussions and more.

The NC Agromedicine Institute to host a Professional Improvement session July 1, 2010 for farmers, farm safety professionals, Extension agents, agriculture educators and health care professionals. Objectives for the workshop include health issues among the farming industry and personal protective equipment education.

Safeguarding Against the Sun and Heat Stress
