CAHS Unit Code Update
Last year, the CAHS faculty approved a revision to the Unit Code. Before being sent on to the University's Code Screening Committee, it was advised that the revised Code be reviewed by two expert reviewers. The CAHS Code now has been fully reviewed by the expert reviewers and the Faculty Council and new proposed changes are now in the Draft CAHS Unit Code 6.17.09 below.
Some of the proposed changes are necessary word changes and minor clarifications. The substantive changes are indicated below. The Faculty Council asks that faculty direct their comments to the Faculty Chair (Deb Culbertson) by August 3rd so that a final draft might be formulated and sent out at least 15 days before our Fall CAHS Faculty Meeting to allow for final discussion and voting.
Proposed substantive changes:
-
Page 8 After line 334 - Should we add the following statement under Chair duties? g. Implement the Department’s Mentoring Program or if none exists implement the CAHS Mentoring Program posted on the college website.
-
Page 12 lines 546-561 - Proposed elimination of Hearing and Appeals Committee with current committee members asked to develop an interim & long-term policy with referral of all students seeking appeal to the Dean of Student Services office and asked to update the CAHS Student Code of Conduct.
-
Page 14 lines 614-638 - Review accuracy of statements related to Personnel Action Committees
-
Page 22 lines 1036-1038 - This suggests a change from a 2/3 vote (which is difficult to obtain) to a simple majority.
