Job Description
The Department of Rehabilitation Studies at East Carolina University seeks an additional faculty member with primary responsibilities in the doctoral program. The relatively new Ph.D. program in Rehabilitation Counseling and Administration admitted it first group of students in the Fall 2005 semester. East Carolina University is a doctoral II institution located in Greenville, North Carolina. With a student body of nearly 28,000 students, it is an expanding institution that is the medical center of eastern North Carolina. Medical facilities include a medical school, a large regional hospital, Area Health Education Center, as well as a College of Nursing and the College of Allied Health Sciences. With a strong regional and growing national reputation, the University and Departmental goal is to increase its national presence and reputation.

The Department of Rehabilitation Studies is housed in the College of Allied Health Sciences within the Division of Health Sciences. The Department is housed in a three-year old building and has state of the art counseling and vocational evaluation labs and teaching technology. The rehabilitation counseling program is currently rated 15th in the nation by US News & World Report. The Rehabilitation Counseling Master's Degree program was initiated in 1967, the Vocational Evaluation Master's Degree Program in 1980, the Substance Abuse and Clinical Counseling Master's Degree program in 1989. The undergraduate Minor in Alcohol and Drug Studies began in 1989 and the BS Degree program in Rehabilitation Services was initiated in 1994. Departmental enrollment includes 12 doctoral, over 70 master's and 50 undergraduate students. The department currently has 11 and 1/2 state funded lines.

This is a state funded tenure track position. The ideal candidate will have a doctoral degree in rehabilitation counseling or a closely related field, a track record of successful research, publication, and grant activity, clinical work experience in rehabilitation, mental health and/or substance abuse fields, possession of or eligibility for licensure/certification as a Rehabilitation Counselor, Professional Counselor, Professional Substance Abuse Counselor, and/or Clinical Supervisor.

Duties: This faculty will be expected to conduct a comprehensive line of research facilitated via grant awards that leads to publications in rehabilitation journals and matriculation of doctoral students through the PhD program. This faculty will also be expected to significantly contribute to the course instruction needs of the department, as well as maintaining an active service record within the community and profession.  

Minimum Qualifications
PhD from an appropriately accredited institution in rehabilitation counseling or related field. CRC or CRC-eligible. Four years of clinical experience in rehabilitation counseling, substance abuse, and/or mental health settings.

Job Description:  East Carolina University (ECU) Physician Assistant (PA) Program welcomes applications for a one full-time (12-month appointment) faculty position. Responsibilities of a regular faculty position include, but are not limited to, teaching didactic and clinical curricula, assisting in curriculum development, recruiting, student advising and participating in scholarly activities. This is an open position. The ECU PA Program is a 27-month, master-level curriculum and is accredited by the ARC-PA. The campus is located in Greenville, NC.  

Minimum Qualifications:  Minimum requirements include a current licensure, unrestricted license as a PA by the North Carolina Medical Board or eligibility for licensure, a minimum of 3 years clinical experience as a PA, a master's degree or higher in a related field and current certification as a PA by the NCCPA. Teaching experience in a PA program is desirable.
