VCDI Professional Development Opportunity

 The BSOM Office of Academic Affairs recognizes the importance of professional development and therefore, has allocated funds to support one URM faculty to attend the AAMC Minority Faculty Career Development Seminar. This year the seminar is scheduled for September 15-18, 2016 at the Hyatt Regency San Antonio Riverwalk in San Antonio, TX. The funding award will include payment for conference registration and travel expenses.

 

Applicant criteria:

1.      Preference given to early career minority faculty

2.      Awardee must commit to presenting conference at a Fall 2016 VCDI Meeting

3.      Applicant must submit the following documents to Chanel Arrington (arringtonc@ecu.edu) by Friday, April 15, 2016:

1)     CV

2)     Letter of Support from Department Chair

3)     Statement of Interest

 

The funding recipient will be notified by Friday, May 6, 2016 by the VCDI Co-Chairs. Registration for the conference opens in late Spring.


Ensuring Diversity Representation on Tenure Track Search Committees
In accordance with the Revised Unit Code of Operations for the Brody School of Medicine, as of February 28, 2013:
Section II B. Faculty Recruitment:"The department chair shall notify the department personnel committee of the number and nature of positions allocated to the department. The selection of candidates must then proceed in accordance with the ECU Faculty Manual Part IX: Tenure and Promotion Policies and Procedures, the most recently revised Affirmative Action Plan, and applicable unit code provisions. The type of search required (i.e., local, regional, national) is governed by University EEO policies. Search committees for tenure track faculty positions will include a faculty designee representing the Office of Diversity Affairs."

  1. Log into One Stop
  2. Click on TOOLS
  3. Under EMPLOYEE, click UNIVERSITY TRAINING
  4. Scroll down to Blackboard EPA Search Committee Training and click on VIEW SECTIONS
  5. Click on ENROLL You will then be enrolled within 24 hours to the Blackboard course and receive an e-mail with further instructions.
