This workshop is designed for those who are responsible for the planned educational experience of students, residents, fellows, or clinical practitioners. This workshop will assist the participant in developing and evaluating educational experiences in health professions.
Objectives
By the end of the session, the participants will be able to:
- Describe the components of curriculum, including needs assessment, goals, objectives, instructional strategies, and evaluation
- Discuss the purposes of curriculum in medical education
- Given a defined learner group and topic areas of need, define curricular goals
- Write specific, measurable objectives
- Select appropriate teaching and learning strategies for defined learning objectives
- Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of various evaluation strategies
- Select appropriate and cost-effective evaluation methods to assess learners' performance and success of the curriculum as a whole

The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Credit
