How to Prepare a Manuscript

Writing for scientific journals is a developed skill. During the workshop, participants will refine the existing draft of their manuscript, strengthening the data presentation and analysis, organizing and executing the discussion, and finally set the stage with the introduction, abstract and title. The workshop will conclude with a discussion of the role of the author in the manuscript submission and review process.
Objectives:
Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:
- Review the manuscript construction, submission and review processes
- Group, analyze and present data effectively
- Organize the discussion to convey the significance of the results
- Outline an effective introduction
- Evaluate finished manuscripts, identifying strengths and weaknesses
Preparation
Participants should come to this workshop with an idea for a topic they would like to write about or one they would like to learn more about. Part of the workshop will involve determining when a subject is in need of further exploration that might lead to publication. The writing process begins in questioning and ends in discovery.
