Small group teaching skills are essential for medical educators whether it be for rounds, class sessions, procedures or problem solving. This workshop is designed to convey essential points for successful small group teaching and to give participants opportunities to practice those skills.
Objectives
Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Discuss when small group instruction is most effective
- Review planning steps needed for teaching in small groups
- Effectively facilitate a small group session
- Manage common barriers encountered with learners in small groups

The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
