Knowledge of clinical research methods is critical to faculty who will develop and/or participate in research projects at the Brody School of Medicine. This four-part series will provide the fundamentals of developing a research protocol including identifying and refining the research question, selecting the appropriate research study design, determining sample size and statistical power, and selecting and recruiting research participants. Participants will complete a research protocol by the end of the four sessions.

In the final session for the research series, participants will learn about finalizing their research protocol, submitting it to the IRB, implementing a project as a busy clinician, and the level and type of support that is needed to be successful.

Objectives
Following the presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to develop a final protocol for conducting research
  • Develop a research project for submission to the IRB
  • Identify the infrastructure and support systems necessary for a research project

Participation is limited. To participate, please complete and submit the Workshop Registration Form or call the Office of Academic and Faculty Development at 744-3420.
