Knowledge of clinical research methods is critical to faculty who will develop and/or participate in research projects at the Brody School of Medicine. This four-part series will provide the fundamentals of developing a research protocol including identifying and refining the research question, selecting the appropriate research study design, determining sample size and statistical power, and selecting and recruiting research participants. Participants will complete a research protocol by the end of the four sessions.
The first session of this series is designed to provide participants with an introduction to clinical research methods and information and skills to write a well-developed research question.
Objectives
Following the presentation, participants will be able to:
- Describe the elements of a research project
- List and define two common study design terms
- Define the criteria used in refining a research question
- Write a draft research question
Participation is limited. To participate, please complete and submit the Workshop Registration Form or call the Office of Academic and Faculty Development at 744-3420.
