Writing for scientific journals is a developed skill. This workshop will begin with a discussion of the role of the author in journal selection and manuscript submission. The participants will follow the manuscript through the review process, including the return of reviews to the author. The author will formulate responses to the review critiques, and modify the manuscript as appropriate for resubmission. The process will be repeated, this time from the perspective of the reviewer.

Objectives
Upon completion of this session participants will be able to:

  • Describe the manuscript submission and review process
  • Interpret and respond to reviewer comments
  • Explain the manuscript review process from the perspective of the reviewer

Preparation
Participants should come prepared to sample various approaches to invention and determine for themselves which approach best helps them explore the scope of their topic. If participants do not yet have a specific topic in mind, several invention techniques designed to help discover a topic will be introduced.

Participation is limited. To participate, please complete and submit the Workshop Registration Form or call the Office of Academic and Faculty Development at 744-3420.
