FACULTY ORIENTATION
The Office of Academic and Faculty Development hosts Fall and Spring Faculty Orientation in August and February. Faculty Orientation is an important, full-day program designed to welcome new faculty to the Brody School of Medicine and inform them of the many opportunities available to them in their unique role as faculty.
Objectives
Upon completion of this orientation program, participants will be able to:
- Articulate the mission and vision of the medical school
- Establish a network among faculty cohorts from clinical and basic science departments
- Determine how to get things accomplished at Brody
- Ascertain steps to achieve promotion and/or tenure at Brody
- Identify and take advantage of the various technology resources available to you at ECU
- Identify individuals among organizational leadership at Brody, including administrative members, department chairs, and center directors
- Describe the administrative structure and function of the Dean's office
- Discuss the organizational format of medical education at the Brody School of Medicine
- Access the full extent of resources and services offered through the Laupus Health Sciences Library
Faculty Orientation vs. New Employee Orientation
All new faculty at Brody are encouraged to attend Faculty Orientation. This is in addition to the required New Employee Orientation, offered to all new employees twice a month through the Office of Staff Development and Training, located at Lakeside Annex #1.
