WORKSHOPS, CONFERENCES, AND GRAND ROUNDS
Through the Academic Skills for Medical School Faculty Workshop Series, faculty members can develop and enhance their skills as teachers, clinicians, researchers, and educational leaders. To find out dates and times and to sign up for offerings of interest, view our workshop calendar.
Workshops
Workshops typically last between two to four hours and are offered during regular work hours and evenings, to accommodate different schedules. Topics include promotion and tenure, small group teaching, presentation skills, curriculum development, and other teaching, career, and clinical/research related topics.
Conferences
Special conferences presented by the Office of Faculty Development include the Women in Medicine Conference and the Coastal Faculty Development Conference.
The Women in Medicine Conference is a full-day seminar at Ironwood Country Club, facilitated by a nationally-known speaker, focusing on excellence in medical education as it pertains to the special needs of women.
The Coastal Faculty Development Conference is a four day conference, held at the Trinity Center at Pine Knoll Shores, NC, and is facilitated by a distinguished special guest speaker, including seminars on feedback, negotiation, leadership, mentoring, and citizenship.
Grand Rounds
Medical Education Grand Rounds are presented in conjunction with the Office of Medical Education, featuring special themes specifically pertaining to medical education issues.
Medical Writing Series
The Medical Writing Series is a sequence of six workshops designed to help faculty gain skills to effectively write and publish their work. These workshops are facilitated by faculty from the Brody School of Medicine.
