Data and Methods of Creation

All population distribution maps were created using ArcGIS 8.1 and 8.2. Attribute data were largely obtained from the US Census 2000 Summary File 1 (SF1). Other data sources were CensusCD+ Maps, USDA, Summary File 3 (SF3), the US Census's FactFinder (website), and North Carolina's State Demographics Unit website.

The maps were first created in ArcGIS. They were then exported into Microsoft's PowerPoint for further manipulation. The tables and graphs were generated using Microsoft's Excel and exported to PowerPoint.

Ultimately all tables, graphs, and maps were converted into PDF documents.
