The Brody School of Medicine (BSOM), in collaboration with Vidant Medical Center (VMC) provides access to simulation-based education. A fourteen room 5,000 sq. ft. Clinical Simulation Center is located adjacent to the hospital on the first floor of the Brody Health Sciences Building. Interprofessional Clinical Simulation Program administration includes a Director from the Department of Emergency Medicine, a full-time master's prepared Manager of Operations, a Simulation Technologist, and an Administrative Assistant. Vidant Medical Center's Center for Learning and Performance partners with BSOM simulation in offering educational activities to Vidant Medical Center staff. Simulation faculty represents clinical services, basic science departments of BSOM and VMC staff. Simulation techniques used to teach technical and non-technical "team building" skills are incorporated into medical student, resident, fellow, nursing, and pre-hospital training curricula. Additional department facilities used for simulation education include BSOM's Gross Anatomy Lab, Office of Clinical Skills Assessment & Education and VMC patient care areas for in-situ simulation training.
