Biographical Information
Dr. Donald G. Ferguson was appointed Director of Basic Science Instruction in January of 2011. Dr. Ferguson will be responsible for helping to develop the basic science syllabus and for coordinating the presentation of basic science material throughout the curriculum.
Dr. Ferguson was born in Montreal, Quebec and attended high school at Feller College. He graduated with a BA (hons) in Experimental Psychology from Queen’sUniversity in Kingston, Ontario. After receiving his Ph.D. in Anatomy from the University of Alberta in Edmonton in 1983, Dr. Ferguson performed postdoctoral research at the Pennsylvania Muscle Institute of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Dr. Ferguson joined the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Cincinnati as a Research Assistant Professor in 1985 and during his stay was named an Established Investigator of the American Heart Association. In 1994, Dr. Ferguson joined the Anatomy Department at Case Western University and taught Gross Anatomy and Histology. In 2006, he accepted a position as Associate Professor in the Physical Therapy Department at Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY. At Clarkson, Dr. Ferguson played a role in developing the basic science curriculum for the newly-established DPT program.
He is married to Illona Gillette-Ferguson, Ph.D., and they have a son, Kenneth.
