Biographical Information
Dr. Ikeda was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. He received his DDS from Tokyo Dental College in 1999. After 1 year of private practice, he completed an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Internship at the Tokyo Dental College in 2001. After the one year experience in the hospital setting, Dr. Ikeda decided to receive training in Oral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and completed his internship in 2002. He then completed an Infectious Disease Fellowship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 2003. After his two post-doctoral training in the United States, he returned to Japan for a residency in Special Needs Pediatric Dentistry at Kanagawa Children’s Medical Center. He then completed General Practice Residency (2006) and Oral Medicine Residency (2008) at Carolinas Medical Center. He also received a MPH from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2010.
