GREENVILLE, N.C.   (Jan. 22, 2013)   —   Dr. Cedric Bright, immediate past president of the National Medical Association, will be the keynote speaker at the 29th annual Andrew A. Best M.D. Senior Recognition Banquet on Saturday, Jan. 26, for graduating minority medical students.

Bright is assistant dean of special programs and admissions in the Department of Medical Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. The event begins at 7 p.m. at the East Carolina Heart Institute at East Carolina University at 115 Heart Drive.

The event is sponsored by the ECU Student National Medical Association.

Best was Greenville’s first black physician. He died in 2005.
