(Apr. 30, 2010)
East Carolina University nursing student Elizabeth Newcomb has been elected to the board of directors for the National Student Nurses Association (NSNA).
Newcomb, of Creedmoor, serves as president of the East Carolina Association of Nursing Students and president of the class of December 2010 in the College of Nursing. On April 25, she received the Exemplary Leader award at the ECU Student Activities and Organization Awards Banquet. The award is presented to an outstanding student who is known not only for exemplary leadership and service to the university but also for a service-oriented attitude and academic success.
The NSNA recently awarded ECANS the Project In Touch grand prize for recruiting 191 new members to join its national association in 2009-2010, the most of any group. ECANS is a constituent member of the North Carolina Association of Nursing Students and the NSNA.
