kim picDr. Juhee Kim has been working on areas of nutrition, obesity, and oral health in public health settings for more than 10 years.  In her current research, the "Caretaker Research Advancing Youth Obesity Knowledge" (CRAYON) research program, she aims to identify determinants of childhood obesity and dental caries, focusing the roles of family, organization, and community by conducting epidemiological, policy, and community-based research.  One of her current research is to explore the role of child care providers in promoting healthy eating practices.  For example, early eating habits, i.e. beverage consumption and bottle-feeding in the bed, are risk factors for later oral health and obesity. However, we do not understand the interrelationship among these risk factors and health outcomes as well as potential influence of family and social interventions.  Dr. Kim is very much interested in collaborating studies that come across disciplines such as public health, preventive medicine, dental medicine, and social sciences.  The collaboration studies can take place in both clinical settings and wider settings of epidemiological researches in community as well as other countries such as Korea and Sweden.
