
Dr. Hans Johnson’s public health experience began in the Peace Corps in Somalia Africa (1965-1967) and then in British Honduras – now Belize – in 1970-1972. Following the Peace Corps he obtained a EdD degree with emphasis in educational community change strategies. From 1979 to 1986 he was on the faculty at Colorado State University planning and delivering health education classes for students preparing to be environmental health consultants in local health departments. In 1986, he joined the faculty of the Department of Community Health at East Carolina University and then re-joined the faculty of the Department of Health Education and Promotion in 1999. Between 1989 and 1999, he was employed by the North Carolina State Department of Public Health as a Health Education Consultant to local health departments in Western North Carolina. Currently he is the Director of the Master of Arts degree in Health Education.
