ECDOI Affiliation

Current Organization

The ECDOI organizational structure currently includes a Medical Director, Basic Research, Exercise & FITT Center, Metabolic Surgery, Pediatric Research & Treatment, Public Health, and Translational Research & Outreach. ECDOI also works closely to coordinate activities with the East Carolina Heart Institute.

What are the benefits of affiliating?

The benefits of affiliating with ECDOI include opportunities to access and participate in support programs, such as Pilot Project Funding and Grant Advisory Panels, access to core equipment, and increased opportunities to forge new collaborations. Additional details will be provided to members after affiliating. In addition, evaluations and recommendations will be provided on request to the appropriate academic unit(s) for promotion/tenure decisions of affiliated members.

What is expected from affiliate members?

A major goal of the Institute is to facilitate the growth of external research funding through individual and collaborative grants. Members are expected, in general, to actively participate in research activities of the Institute and, more specifically, to participate in regular Metabolism Joint laboratory meeting specific to their area, to attend/participate in the monthly Taft Diabetes and ECDOI seminar series, to serve on Grant Advisory Panels, to indicate affiliation with ECDOI in publications of their work, and to acknowledge funding from the Institute if funding has been provided.

How to Affiliate

Interested faculty are encouraged to send an email Dr. Neufer indicating name, title, department, school/college, and brief research interests. Also, please include a NIH Biosketch, publication list, or similar evidence of research activity. Upon approval, letters will be sent to appropriate departmental Chair(s) and college/school Deans indicating faculty affiliation with ECDOI. Faculty may apply for affiliation at any time.
