EM Acting Internship EM401

The Acting Internship in Emergency Medicine at ECU Emergency Medicine is a four-week elective available to qualified fourth-year medical students from LCME or AOA approved schools.

Students will spend 13-15 twelve-hour shifts in the Emergency Department at PCMH. This will include days, overnights and weekends. Students have responsibility for direct patient care with supervision by Emergency Medicine Faculty and Residents. Students also spend two shifts with local EMS crews learning pre-hospital care. Reading materials as well as 8 hours per week of didactic learning are provided.

Rotations not conforming to the above dates are considered on an individual basis, although no rotation is offered in July.

This rotation is limited to six students per month as space allows. Some housing is available on a limited basis. For housing information contact the Office of Student Affairs at 252-744-2278.
