Cardiology
Our cardiologists provide a full range of heart services using the most modern diagnostic and treatment technology available. We evaluate and treat all types of heart disease, including congenital (from birth) defects, chest pain (angina pectoris), fainting (syncope), irregular heart beat (arrhythmia).
We are also highly skilled providers of hospital (inpatient) services and follow-up care for heart attacks, congestive heart failure and severe electrical instability and illnesses requiring pacemakers. We are associated with the Heart Center at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, our teaching hospital, which provides complete support for our staff and patients.
Evaluation tools include catheterization, stress tests, echocardiography (ultrasound screening of the heart), electrocardiography, catheterization and electrophysiology studies. We perform angioplasty, bypass, valve repair and other interventions through ECU Physicians' heart surgery division.
Follow-up care includes cholesterol (lipid) management and preventive care clinics, as well as a blood thinner (Coumadin) clinic. We encourage referring physicians to become part of a treatment team and continue active participation in their patients' care.
Outreach sites in Kenansville and Aurora allow patients to be seen by our specialists in their own communities.
