Heart & Vascular Care

Heart Disease

The outstanding cardiologists and surgeons of ECU Physicians are part of the East Carolina Heart Institute, bringing together the best heart and circulatory care in a central location at our medical center. The heart institute assures our patients a simpler transition from doctor’s office to diagnosis, from surgery and recovery to normal life.

Because eastern North Carolina has some of the highest rates of heart and vascular disease in the nation, our physicians and staff have developed exceptional expertise in treating these conditions. Because we are faculty of the Brody School of Medicine, we bring together the best treatments and newest research, assuring you outstanding care from exceptional professionals.

You can trust us with your heart.

We diagnose and treat:
  • heart failure
  • chest pain (angina)
  • irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia)
  • fainting (syncope)
  • heart conditions related to high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes and other conditions
  • congenital (from birth) heart defects

Follow-up care includes
  • cholesterol (lipid) management
  • preventive care
  • blood thinner (Coumadin) clinic

We encourage referring physicians to become part of a treatment team and participate in their patients' care. Outreach sites in Kenansville and Aurora allow patients to be seen by our specialists in their own communities.
