Infectious Diseases

Diseases can spread in many ways, such as by plants, insects and animals. They are also passed from other people. Some contagious diseases can lead to death if not treated and stopped. Diseases that spread from person to person can threaten the health of entire communities.

Our specialists in infectious diseases diagnose and treat these diseases with the advanced medicine that relieves a patient of symptoms while the body recovers from the disease.

We treat all types of infectious diseases, including common ones such as the flu, Lyme Disease, HIV and AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases. We also treat West Nile and other viral infections, tuberculosis, fevers and parasitic infections, malaria and other diseases. We treat antibiotic resistant diseases, including MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) and other forms of staph infections, as well as E.coli.

Our physicians are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We also provide infection control at Pitt County Memorial Hospital and its affiliated institutions.

People who are traveling abroad may be seen at our International Travelers Clinic. This practice recommends vaccinations and medicines to avoid infectious diseases while traveling outside the United States.
