Plastic Surgery

Are you thinking about a change to your appearance? Maybe you would like to refine your nose or chin, or balance the features associated with aging. Procedures to change your appearance have never been more available. Whether you seek a small change such as facial filler or Botox injections or a larger modification such as a face lift, our board-certified surgeons and qualified medical staff can provide your care.

ECU Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery features advanced approaches to make the changes that will suit your self-image. Because our services take place in an academic setting, we bring a high level of expertise and experience.

We start with a consultation to determine your vision for change. Many people find small changes can create a sense of rejuvenation. Brow lifts (temporal or forehead) and eye procedures, such as blepharoplasty, generally do not require hospitalization.

Major procedures such as full face lifts, nose reshaping (rhinoplasty) or breast augmentation (implants) may require a hospital stay of one night or longer.

You may find more information about our procedures below.

Facial treatments

Radiance lunchtime peels and other light to medium peels

'Blue' peels and deeper treatments (require several days' recovery time)

Injectable treatments

Botox (butulinum toxin) injected to reduce or remove wrinkles by temporarily paralyzing facial muscles, especially of the forehead.

Juvederm and Resylane facial fillers used to plump lines especially between the nose and mouth.

Facial procedures (in office or day surgery)

Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) in which the skin and underlying tissue are reduced and reshaped to give a more youthful appearance.

Browlift or temporal lift to raise the forehead profile and eyebrows.

Ear surgery (otoplasty or pining the ears) brings the ears closer to the head or corrects a perceived imbalance in shape, size or position.

Chin surgery (mentoplasty) can mean implant (augmentation) or reduction to alter the profile by improving a receding chin or balancing a jutting or prominent one to increase facial harmony.

Facial procedures (with hospital stay)

Nose surgery (rhinoplasty) to reshape the nose. May require a single-night hospital stay.

Facelift (rhytidectomy) creates more significant changes to the cheeks, forehead and jaw line.

Body procedures

Breast implants (augmentation) results in larger breasts using inserted forms filled with saline or silicone. May require an overnight stay.

Breast reduction results in smaller breasts by removing tissue and reshaping the form. Will likely require an overnight stay.

Liposuction removes large fat deposits using a small tube (cannula) and suction (using a vacuum pump or large syringe). Complex or large-area procedures may require an overnight (or longer) hospital stay.

Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) creates a slimmer stomach or belly area by repositioning loose skin caused by weight loss or child birth. May require an overnight hospital stay.

Arm lift with removal of skin addresses the hanging skin of the upper arms. May require an overnight stay.

Removal of excess skin after weight loss eliminates sagging skin remaining after dramatic weight loss. This operation often takes place after a patient loses weight through bariatric (or weight-loss) surgery and requires hospitalization.

Body lift to remove loose skin and muscle around the waist, hips, buttocks and upper thighs requires a hospital stay.
