Our specialists in respiratory diseases (pulmonologists) treat lung and breathing problems. We treat patients in our office and in the hospital, including those in intensive care. Our specialists evaluate and treat shortness of breath, wheezing, hemoptysis (coughing up blood), pleural effusions (fluid collection around the lung), and lung cancer. We also treat allergies and chronic obstructive disease, or COPD.
Typically, patients are referred by their doctor because of their symptoms or disorder that appears on X-ray. Referrals are not needed, however, to be seen by our doctors.
Our offices are on the first floor of the Moye Medical Building across from the Brody School of Medicine. We have 12 exam rooms, a pulmonary function lab, and a bronchoscopy suite with a fluoroscopy unit. A state-of-the-art, fully-equipped four-bed sleep unit is also located here.
Our staff includes eight full-time, board-certified faculty, four fellows, and a dedicated nursing respiratory staff.

- Allergies (seasonal or other types)

- Bronchitis
- Chest pain
- Chronic interstitial lung disease or lung fibrosis
- Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (COPD)

- Excessive weight or obesity and related respiratory complaints
- Hypersensitivity pneumonitis or reactions
- Lung cancer
- Lung scarring
- Occupational lung disease (including asthma, farming, asbestos, or coal or dust related respiratory problems or symptoms, or other occupational exposures)
- Pleural effusion or water on the lung
- Pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (PAP)
- Pulmonary hypertension
- Pulmonary vascular disease or blood clots
- Sarcoidosis
- Shortness of breath (or breathlessness)
- Sleep disorders, including snoring, excessive sleepiness, or both
- Sputum production with or without blood
- X-ray abnormalities
- Wheezing
We also perform these procedures in our office
Flexible Bronchoscopy, which allows your physician to examine the air passages of your lungs. This checks for cancer, infection, inflammation and allows us to take tissue samples.
Thoracentesis, allowing a doctor to remove test or remove fluid from around the lungs.
Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT), measuring the lungs’ abilities, or function, and air volume. This test helps diagnose lung disease.
Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing, performed while a patient rides a stationary bicycle to allow lung and heart function.
Polysomnography, or a sleep study, allows doctors to diagnose sleep disorders.
We also offer interventional pulmonology. This therapy treats patients who have large-airway disorders, lung cancer or pleural disease, which affects the lining of the lungs.
