For assistance with physician referrals and for consultation requests, please call the physician referral service for ECU Physicians at 252-744-2138 or 800-328-0577. This service is available 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
If you need an immediate consultation or to make an emergency referral, please call 252-744-3939 for the physician on-call answering service. The physician referral line is for physicians only. Our patient services number is 800-722-3281.

Please include the following patient information in your written communications: patient name, address, Social Security number and date of birth. If possible, please include the patient’s ECU Physicians medical record number with your correspondence.
Health Information Services and Support
Copies of a patient’s medical records may be obtained by contacting Health Information Systems/Services at 252-744-2030. Copies should be requested several days before the patient’s appointment to ensure timely receipt at the proper destination. For medical record identification, please provide the following patient information: name, address, Social Security number and date of birth. Faxing of patient information is discouraged but may occur in some situations.
Patients who need copies of their medical records may call the Release of Information Section at 252-744-5478 or 252- 744-3761, fax 252-744-3195. There may be a charge for copies.
If possible, requests should be directed to the medical office where a patient was last seen. If you do not know the clinical location, please contact Health Information Systems/Services at 252-744-2030 and select the option for medical records information.
