During hospitalization, rehabilitation is often a key part of recovery. Rehabilitation helps patients regain muscle use and tone after illness, disease, injury, surgery or any condition that has caused weakness, pain or loss of ability.
For hospitalized patients we provide rehabilitation after spinal cord and traumatic head injury, stroke and heart disease, multiple fractures, catastrophic injury, burns and long-term illness and cancer rehabilitation. Our goal is to help our patients return to their normal activities and continue to improve under the care of their regular physician.
Our 75-bed Regional Rehabilitation Center is one of only eight in the nation recognized by the Committee on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities in 11 or more specialty areas. We have one of only two children’s rehabilitation units in the state.
In addition to the care offered by our physicians, your rehabilitation program may include physical, recreation and occupational therapies, speech and language therapy, respiratory therapy and psychological care in a medical setting.
Our rehabilitation center includes a 12-bed specialty unit and a dedicated program for patients with spinal cord injuries, including those who experience paraplegia (paralysis of the legs and trunk below chest level) and quadriplegia (movement lost in arms and legs).
Advanced rehabilitation can allow patients to return to their homes, jobs and school with the tools they need to adjust to their impairments.
Day Rehabilitation Center
This outpatient program is designed for patients who have physical, cognitive and communication difficulties and who require at least two skilled therapies. The Day Rehabilitation Center serves adult patients who have brain injuries or other neurological disorders. Programs may include several hours of therapy for several days, depending on the needs of the patient. The InRoads Driving Program is for individuals whose medical conditions affect their driving skills.
