Outpatient (office) Rehabilitation

If you need rehabilitation services outside of a hospital setting, including follow-up and ongoing therapy programs, you may see physicians at our Rehabilitation Physician Clinic 252 847 7585 and 800 257 6186.

Here you’ll find advanced rehabilitation care for chronic pain and occupational pain, as well as general rehabilitation after injury, brain trauma or for condition such as spasticity. A complete listing of our services is below.

For adults, we provide care for musculoskeletal injuries and disorders, post-polio care, medical management of HIV, stroke, cardiopulmonary disease and other conditions. We also provide adaptive equipment and help you learn to use them as part of a return to daily activities.

Treatments include injections, medication, neuropsychological testing, behavioral programs, physical therapy and occupational therapy treatments of pain disorders.

We also offer medical acupuncture staffed by a physician acupuncturist.

We also prescribe supportive care such as physical, occupational and recreational therapists, speech and language pathologists, respiratory therapists, psychologists, audiologists, case managers, dieticians and pastors.

Our clinics

Adaptive Equipment - evaluation for and prescription of wheelchairs, augmentative communication, orthoses

Amputee - fitting of prosthesis, control of phantom limb pain

Electrodiagnostic Laboratory - electromyography and nerve conduction studies. We also offer visual evoked (VEP) and sensory evoked potentials (SSEP), which measure the response of the brain to different types of stimuli

General Rehabilitation - evaluation and treatment of patients who are deconditioned, or who have cancer, HIV, stroke, musculoskeletal injuries and disorders and cardiopulmonary disease

Medical Acupuncture - clinic available for evaluations of all patients and staffed by a physician acupuncturist

Mild Traumatic Brain Injury - adult and pediatric clinics which emphasize evaluation and treatment of cognitive deficits and return to work or school

Occupational Injury - functional capacity evaluations, work hardening, pain treatments

Occupational Medicine - providing urgent and continuing care, through a full range of occupational medicine services to our hospital employees and community partners

Post Polio - specialized clinic

Spasticity - nerve blocks or medications, including botulinum injections and intrathecal pumps, which deliver medication directly through the spine. These approaches are used to reduce muscle responses after upper motor neuron lesion such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury or cerebral palsy

Spinal Cord Injury - multidisciplinary clinics

Spine Clinic - comprehensive treatment of neck and back pain

Traumatic Brain Injury - evaluation and treatment of self-care, cognitive, mobility, and vocational issues
