Rehabilitation Medicine

Rehabilitation Care at ECU Physicians

Rehabilitation care is an important part of recovering from illness, injury, disease and major surgery. We offer advanced, compassionate rehabilitation assistance for people of all ages, starting at infancy and continuing through the special needs of older patients.

Rehabilitation physicians are muscle specialists who treat the full range of conditions that affect a person’s abilities. Our physicians are board certified in spinal cord medicine, pain medicine, electrodiagnostic medicine and pediatric rehabilitation.

You can count on us for the expertise to develop individualized treatment programs and consultation support that will allow you to return to a long-term rehabilitation program managed by your regular physician.

Our Services
Hospital-based (inpatient) rehabilitation services help patients regain the strength and abilities they need to return home after hospitalization. These services are provided at Pitt County Memorial Hospital at the Regional Rehabilitation Center. We are the only center in eastern North Carolina with special units for brain-injured patients and children with spinal cord injuries.

At our Rehabilitation Physician Clinics, we offer rehabilitation services for children and adults without the need for a hospital stay. These services include care for people who have undergone amputation or who need follow-up care after hospitalization. We also provide vocational evaluation.
For therapies: Call (252) 847-6603

For patients experiencing severe back, joint or upper body pain, starting in spring 2009, we are pleased to offer services at our Musculoskeletal and Spine Center

Our state-of-the-art Wound Healing Center uses oxygen therapy to strengthen the body’s own ability to recover from chronic wounds, such as occur with diabetes and after radiation.
