Trauma and Critical Care
In a time of crisis, you can rely on the trauma team at ECU Physicians. We are the trauma surgeons who staff the Emergency Department at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. When you arrive at our Emergency Department, you can trust that we are ready for any crisis. We work side by side with our Emergency Medicine physicians to provide immediate care, precisely and quickly.
We have the training and skills to treat the serious injuries and illnesses that can arise without warning and demand rapid treatment. Our high-tech environment is located in the new 40,000 square-foot emergency area at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. We have two trauma bays fully equipped for emergency surgeries and treatments. A rooftop landing pad atop our building brings patients directly to our trauma bay, enabling us to provide life-saving care more quickly.
We are a nationally certified Level One Trauma Center, as certified by the American College of Surgeons. That means trauma patients receive quick, responsive care from our surgeons and specialists in neurosurgery, plastic surgery, radiology, internal medicine and other areas, as well as general surgery and emergency medicine. We are a trusted referral resource for eastern North Carolina, and our emergency department experiences more than 53,000 visits each year.
In case of emergency dial 911. To reach our Emergency Department and trauma services enter the hospital from Emergency Drive on the western side of Pitt County Memorial Hospital. Follow the Emergency Department signs.
