Women's Health

Gynecological Surgery

As specialists in gynecological and uro-gynecological surgery, we perform procedures that address the full scope of women's health issues.

We specialize in surgery for many conditions:

  • Incontinence. Our pioneering work with the transvaginal tape has produced excellent results. This minimally invasive surgery helps stabilize the bladder, urethra, uterus and other organs and lessen the effects of stress incontinence.
  • Pelvic pain and infertility. We can diagnose and treat the causes through surgical interventions for endometriosis, tubal disease and other conditions.
  • Prenatal surgeries. Our specialists in maternal-fetal medicine use the most advanced techniques available to diagnose and treat unborn children.
  • Microsurgical tubal reversals. Using microsurgery (performed under a microscope) we have demonstrated success restoring a woman's fertility after tubal ligation.
  • Gynecological oncology. We treat cancer of the ovary, uterus, cervix, vulva and vagina through surgery and other advanced techniques. We also treat difficult pelvic surgical problems, as well as gestational trophoblastic disease. We are a center for ongoing clinical trials for gene therapy for ovarian cancer.
  • Minimally invasive procedures for hysterectomy. At ECU Physicians, Dr. Keith Nelson specializes in minimally invasive procedures for hysterectomies. More information about these types of procedures can be found at the web site, http://www.hysterectomysolutions.com.
