Benefits

A generous benefit package is offered to residents, including life insurance, disability insurance, and Benefit Planners insurance as well as malpractice insurance, Worker's compensation, social security, employee counseling, and pharmacy/hospital discounts.  Other benefits include:  three weeks of paid vacation, twelve days of paid sick leave annually, reimbursement of the USMLE Step III fee with a mandatory passing grade, lab coat and scrubs, laundry for lab coats, meal tickets, call rooms, and partial moving expense reimbursement up to $1,000.  To view the full benefits document, click here.

PGY I -- $42,687
PGY II -- $43,790
PGY III -- $45,296
PGY IV -- $46,930
PGY V -- $48,436

Resident Benefits:

  • Educational materials provided outside allowance per year:  Residents will be given $2,000 (total) for educational purposes approved by Program Directors over their three-years/five-years of residency.

  • Access to MKSAP CD-ROM (EM/IM)
  • American Board of Emergency Medicine In-Service Training Examination (EM) and American Board of Internal Medicine In-Service Training Examination (EM/IM) given yearly for all residents

The Department of Emergency Medicine provides each resident with a Palm device for use throughout their residency.  We are currently using the Palm M515 with a 16 mb expansion card.

ATLS and ATLS Instructor, APLS Provider, ACLS Provider and Instructor courses are provided at no cost to the resident.
