Research in Residency
The faculty of ECU Emergency Medicine recognizes the important role that research plays in teaching, patient care, and the development of our specialty. The faculty actively participates in clinical research. In addition, The Brody School of Medicine has several well-equipped laboratories and an animal research facility available to Emergency Medicine faculty and residents.
Their work is supported by funding from both private and public institutions and has resulted in a number of publications and presentations. Residents are encouraged and expected to participate in scholastic activity. During their training each resident will prepare and present an independent project that represents original research, review of the literature, a EM-related case report, or other topic of interest. The Division of Research provides faculty assistance at all levels.
