Pitt County Memorial Hospital, the primary teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine and the ECU Sports Medicine Fellowship program, is the only hospital in the county and serves as the tertiary care medical center for a 29-county region. The hospital is a 731-bed facility with a level I Trauma Center, Cancer Center, Heart Center, Children's Hospital, and Rehabilitation Hospital. Annual patient volume is 36,000 inpatients, 3,000 births, and 87,000 ED visits.
