Clinical Services
ECU Family Medicine Medical Nutrition Therapy
We provide individual diet counseling for all ages and medical conditions including, but not limited to:
- prenatal nutrition
- breastfeeding support
- child and adult weight management
- gastric bypass nutrition evaluations
- high cholesterol
- high blood pressure
- metabolic syndrome
- celiac disease
- food sensitivities
- type 2 diabetes
- health promotion and dietary supplements
- sports nutrition
We are credentialed by the NC Blue Cross and Blue Shield to offer weight management through their Healthy Lifestyle Choice Program.
We are also an approved provider for nutrition and weight management services for employees of UHS (Medcost).
Appointments are available Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm at the ECU Family Medicine Center and also at the Family Medicine Firetower Medical Office. Insurance coverage varies, but usual charges are affordable. Patients may schedule an appointment by calling (252) 744-4611 for the Family Medicine Center, (252) 744-1122 for the Firetower Medical Office.
Other Services
We are also partners in the KIDPOWER program, which provides medical nutrition therapy services to children who are at risk for overweight or overweight. KIDPOWER has been supported by grants from the Pitt Memorial Hospital Foundation, the Pitt County Health Education Foundation, the Children's Miracle Network, and the Pediatric Healthy Weight Research and Treatment Center at ECU.
We partner with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service to offer the "Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less" program.
