The Department of Health Services and Information Management offers undergraduate degrees in two programs.  Both degrees are on-campus and on-line.

BS, Health Services Management
BS, Health Information Management
NOTE: Due to projected changes in the certification requirements of the Council on Certification of the American Health Information Management Association, the bachelors' program will be discontinued. The last semester for matriculation of part-time students into the bachelor's program is Fall 2010.  The last semester for matriculation of full-time students into the bachelor's program is Fall 2011.  Students should plan to complete this bachelor of science in health information management by May 2013.

The department also offers one minor and five graduate certificates.

The Department of Community Health has merged with the Department of Health Services and Information Management and offers two sequences of courses.

The Health Services and Information Management Programs at ECU will expand students' capacities to lead, recognize their unique strengths, and apply ECU's Integrated Leadership Framework to inspire, empower, and influence positive action for the benefit of society. Students are trained to strive for high quality, relevant, and accountable leadership that will meet the challenges of managing the nation's healthcare organizations. During the last semester before graduation, the HIM students have an allied health management experience and the HSM students have an internship where functions such as leadership, finance, budget, management and human resources in health care facilities are seen and experienced.
