Bachelor of Science in Health Services Management

Degree Requirements

The Health Services Management curriculum provides a working foundation in management and professional skills, while at the same time introducing the student to the health care delivery system and its many and varied issues and challenges. Graduates are prepared to assume increased management responsibilities with a better understanding of the complex system in which they work.

The curriculum's goals are to provide students with a substantive general education, with an understanding of the health care system, and with specialized, interdisciplinary knowledge. Licensed or credentialed practitioners with associate degrees may receive up to 30 semester hours of credit for their discipline-specific training.

The Health Services Management program offers two concentrations to meet the needs of working, credentialed practitioners (the Allied Health Management Concentration) and the more traditional students (the Health Services Management Concentration). Whichever concentration suits the student best, all majors must earn a minimum grade of C in all foundations curriculum, cognate, and core courses.  Minimum degree requirement is 124 semester hours of credit; 62 semester hours must be from a four-year institution.

A Traditional Student – Health Services Management (HSM) Concentration

The B.S. in Health Services Management will allow the graduate to pursue jobs in mid-level management in health care; OR, the traditional student may choose to become a candidate for a master's program in allied health. With this degree, pre-requisites for the master's will be met and a baccalaureate degree with a job future will be earned. Download this course of study.
