Collaborative Efforts of Faculty Leaders
Commitment and responsibility: ICD 10 Conference
In an effort to prepare HIM professionals, a two-day ICD-10 workshop has been designed by one of our faculty members, Dr. Susie Harris. The focus of the workshop will be on engaging coding professionals with in-class ICD-10-CM/PCS coding exercise examples. Participants will gain ICD-10-CM/PCS experience from experts in the field. The presenters will provide valuable information that will guide you through the steps of transitioning and coding using the ICD-10-CM/PCS system. ICD-10-CM/PCS coding exercise examples will be provided at the end of each day.
Service Learning:
- 11th Annual National Outreach Scholarship, October 4-6, 2010, Raleigh NC. Pat Royal is one of the presenters who describe the process for obtaining the service learning designation for courses taught at ECU.
- Bonita Sasnett received the service learning designation in Spring 2010 for the course Professional Roles and Environments in Health Care.
Mentoring:
Robert Campbell and Bonita Sasnett completed a mentoring project involving sophomores and seniors working toward a common goal for a local community agency. A paper to explain this positive change is forthcoming.
