REACH Out Program

General Information 

The Brody School of Medicine (BSOM) has a comprehensive approach to HIV care in Eastern North Carolina (ENC): REACH (Response through Education, Advocacy, Counseling/Testing and Health Care). Our REACH Out Program (ROP) has several programs to increase HIV knowledge, promote HIV screening and link and retain People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in care.

Educational Programs

Community Based Programs:

  • Professionals HIV/AIDS Continuing Education Training
  • Community HIV Awareness and Training (CHAT)
  • Young Adults and Adolescents Programs
  • SISTER TALK (Sisters Informing Sisters To Empower Response to Take Action to Live with Knowledge)

Prevention With Positive Interventions Programs (PWPI):

  • Peer Education Training (PET): Teaching individuals how to teach others about HIV.
  • RED Ribbon Program: Individualized HIV education.
  • Life Support Workshop: Meets monthly in various locations to empower people affected by HIV.
  • Consumer-Community Advisory Board: Meets every other month to discuss and plan health care, education and community events at BSOM-ID Clinic.

Non-Traditional HIV Counseling, Testing and Referral:

  • Non-Traditional HIV Counseling, Testing and Referral: BSOM-ID provides free HIV testing and counseling in a variety of non-traditional community settings.

BSOM has a holistic approach to care.  We have several specialties within our clinic to make access to care easier.

Behavioral Health Services

These services consist of a complete behavioral health team that works to help clients address any mental health concerns.

Region 10, E-Care Net Meeting (Quarterly: February, May, August, November)

Location: Pitt County Health Department, 201 Government Circle, Greenville, NC 27834

Purpose:  To create community partnerships that increase access and quality to care for clients.  This is a meeting where clients and partners can come together to shape care according to geographic and individual needs in our region.
