Now in its 27th year, the Department of Internal Medicine’s Research Day is a one- day event highlighting departmental research achievements. Held each spring, departmental faculty and staff, house staff, fellows and students from all divisions are encouraged to present their research to a multi-disciplinary audience of their peers. Research presented ranges from basic science to health care, and includes that recently published or presented at national research conferences, as well as projects in more preliminary stages.
In 2008, Research Day was dedicated and renamed to honor the significant clinical and research contributions of Yash P Kataria, MD. Dr Kataria formed the Research Advisory Committee which held the first event in 1987. The programs purpose remains the same, to provide a forum for the discussion of research ideas and to promote professional and social interaction within the department. The day’s events include sessions for oral or poster presentations, along with a luncheon and keynote address and conclude with an awards ceremony.
