The Laupus Library, founded in 1969, serves a major role in providing for the medical needs of Eastern North Carolina. The Laupus Library serves the Brody School of Medicine, Eastern AHEC (Area Health Education Centers), College of Allied Health Sciences, College of Nursing, School of Dentistry and University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina.
Laupus Library is located in the Health Sciences Building on East Carolina University's Health Sciences Campus. The four-story, 72,000 square foot library provides plenty of open study space, 20 group study rooms, a
computer lab with over 40 computers, media production and consultation services, reference services, circulating and historical collections.
Statistics for the 2008-2009 academic calendar year:
- Circulated 22,253 items
- 35,094 book titles
- over 13,000 full-text electronic journal articles
- answered over 8,810 reference questions
- provided computer lab service to 43,133 students
- 163,860 patrons visited the library
