Current Outreach Projects

AHEC Digital Library

The NC AHEC program established an online or "Digital" library through a Duke Endowment Grant. For the past three years, Medical Librarians from across the state have worked on developing this service. Eastern AHEC/Outreach Services participates in the continued development, marketing, and administration of membership accounts.

Hospital Library Improvement Grants

Eastern AHEC/Outreach Services searches on a continual basis for grant funding to support the improvement of regional hospital libraries.

PDA's in Medicine

Several projects involving Personal Digital Assistants and their use in healthcare are currently underway. Regional Preceptors (regional teaching physicians/nurses), Nursing students, the Family Practice Residency program and 2nd & 3rd year Medical Students currently receive PDA's at ECU. Our office participates with these initiatives when and where appropriate.
