The Essence of Caring was a collaborative exhibition showcasing the work of 8 College of Nursing Faculty.
A.J. Sours, Physician Assistant for the Department of Cardiovascular Science at the East Carolina University Heart Institute, presented a 2015 Spring Semester exhibit as part of the Art as Avocation series. Entitled, “Roadside Attractions: Stop and Smell the Roses,” the exhibit displayed a collection of photography capturing the often overlooked beauty of nature. The exhibit was on display in the Laupus Library 4th floor gallery from February 17 to May 8, 2015.
Sheldon Downes, Ed.D., Retired Professor Emeritus from the Department of Addictions and Rehabilitation Studies, College of Allied Health Sciences, presents a 2014 Fall Semester exhibit as part of the Art as Avocation series. Entitled, “The Beauty of Realism” Downes showcases a collection of oil paintings that capture the beauty of landscapes and scenes from nature. The exhibit was on display in the Laupus Library 4th floor gallery beginning October 21, 2014 and ran through December 12, 2014.
Dr. Walter J. Pories, Professor of Surgery, Biochemistry and Kinesiology and Director of the Metabolic Surgery Research Group at the Brody School of Medicine presented a 2013 Fall Semester exhibit entitled, "The Art of Pories: Reflections on Medicine, Science, & Academia". Pories showcased a multiple media collection of cartoons, sculptures, watercolor paintings and digital art as an artistic response to his views on medicine, science and academia. The exhibit was on display from October 1, 2013 through December 6, 2013.
Dr. Anthony C. Breuer, Affiliate Professor of Neurology in the Brody School of Medicine and Neurologist at East Carolina Neurology presents a 2013 Spring Semester exhibit as part of the Art as Avocation series entitled, "Artscience in Spacetime: Steam". The exhibit was on display from January 29, 2013 through March 12, 2013.
Dr. Leonard G. Trujillo, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy in the College of Allied Health Sciences, presented a 2012 Fall Semester exhibit of relief carvings entitled, "Artistry in Wood: Reflections of Past and Present, Preserved Forever". The exhibit was on display from September 11, 2012 through November 6, 2012.
Dr. Everett presented a series of watercolor impressions of eastern North Carolina, ECU and the Division of Health Sciences created in honor of the 50th anniversary of the College of Nursing. The exhibit ran from January 31, 2012 through March 27, 2012.
