Current Outreach Projects
AHEC Digital Library - The NC AHEC program established an online or "Digital" library through a Duke Endowment Grant. For the past three years, Medical Librarians from across the state have worked on developing this service. Eastern AHEC/Outreach Services participates in the continued development, marketing, and administration of membership accounts.
Hospital Library Improvement Grants - Eastern AHEC/Outreach Services searches on a continual basis for grant funding to support the improvement of regional hospital libraries.
PDA's in Medicine - Several projects involving Personal Digital Assistants and their use in healthcare are currently underway. Regional Preceptors (regional teaching physicians/nurses), Nursing students, the Family Practice Residency program and 2nd & 3rd year Medical Students currently receive PDA's at ECU. Our office participates with these initiatives when and where appropriate.
