Kenneth De VilleKenneth A. De Ville, Ph.D., J.D.

Dr. De Ville holds a doctorate from Rice University (1989) and a law degree from the University of Texas (1992).  He is licensed to practice law in the state of North Carolina and is certified in Superior Court Mediation.  He has served as “of counsel” for health law firms in North Carolina.  De Ville serves as the university ethics liaison to the North Carolina State Ethics Commission and is an adjunct member of the Department of Public Health.  He has served as administrative director of the university and medical center institutional review board.  De Ville is Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) by the Healthcare Compliance Association (HCCA) and a Certified Institutional Review Board Professional (CIP).

De Ville has authored numerous peer-reviewed & non-peer reviewed articles, book chapters and professional publications.  He is author of the book Medical Malpractice in Nineteenth Century America: Origins and Legacy (NYU Press, 1990) and is co-editor of The Debate over Physician-Assisted Suicide and Its Meaning for End-of-Life Care (2001).  He serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Legal Medicine, the Journal of Public Health Management & Practice,and Accountability in Research.
